Post-doctoral research project on gibbon behaviour, scocio-ecology, feeding behaviour, nutritional intake, singing, and density and population study. There are 5 habituated groups of gibbons with more groups being habituated.

Field site:
One of the last remnants of primary lowland forest in the Balikpapan-Samarinda area and indeed most of east Kalimantan. Three field stations present. An established trail system and a large number of botanical plots.

Species studied:
Mueller's gibbon (Hylobates muelleri muelleri)
White-fronted leaf monkey (Presbytis frontata)
Maroon leaf monkey (Presbytis rubicunda)

Research objectives:
Elucidate role of fruit-eating animals (primates, bats, and birds) in seed dispersal in the natural regeneration of tropical rain forests.
