A hit song by The Turtles in 1967. The of Sexy Chartsfuckers'

Sparrow
(Paul Simon) |
Original recording: 8 Feb. 1996, remix: Sept. 2005,
Zürich by DJ Thomas G. |
In this remix of the Sexy Chartsfucker's originally
straight cover version of the Simon & Garfunkel tune, the song mutates to a reggae
format, decorated with exotic sarod and drums. |

Sparrow
(Paul Simon) |
8 February 1996, Rössligasse 5, Zürich |
"Sparrow" is one of the lesser known songs
from Simon & Garfunkel's debut album of 1965 "Wednesday Morning 3 a.m.".
After the performance, Markus's incredulously commented ěThis wasn't even THAT bad!î.
This comment is difficult to understand when hearing the track, even though this
was the first and only recording session in the Sexy CF's recording history carried
out with a decent microphone. |

Sunny afternoon
(Ray Davies) |
22 June 1995, Anthropological Institute, Zürich |
The vaudevillian song "Sunny afternoon" was
a hit by The Kinks in 1966. This track was recorded during the first and only ever
rehearsal session of the Sexy CF, on the day prior to their unforgettable first and
only live concert in Switzerland. The track nicely documents the usual chaos of Sexy
CF sessions and the general unfamiliarity of the band members with the repertoire. |

Will my mama love me
(Thomas Geissmann) |
19 June 1995, Hyde Park, London |
Live recording of an unrehearsed impromptu performance
by the spartanic core section of The Sexy Chartsfuckers: Thomas Geissmann - guitar
and vocals, Markus Roth - guitar and vocals, Jenny Pastorini - moral support. Unplugged,
of course. This is the legendary Hyde Park Concert of the Sexy CF, performed in front
of a stunned audience (Hi, Jenny!). Although three additional members had been tricked
into joining the band by that time, only a few band members could afford the flight
ticket to London. The memorable event was tape-recorded by a fan (Hi, Jenny!) with
a walkman. |

Baby, what you want me to do
(Jimmy Reed) |
Late May or early June 1995, Anthropological Institute,
Zürich |
This is the first known recording of the Sexy CF in
their original line up (Christophe Soligo and Thomas Geissmann). The song selected
to be recorded on tape for posterity (a classic of Jimmy Reed from 1959) was a natural
choice: Because nothing had ever been rehearsed, there was only one song of which
both band members were able to remember the text. This is take 1, which is famous
for Christophe's discovery - early on during his harmonica solo - that he is holding
his instrument the wrong way 'round! And this was still the best take. |
